Hey, I’m Stephanie!
I grew up wanting to be so many different things, but it didn’t occur to me that my life needed to look a certain way until I began passing through the traditional life milestones that society has set for women. You know what I’m talking about…a college degree, marriage, 2 kids and a dog, and of course the proverbial “picket fence”.
As I passed through my twenties and thirties I had become successful at my chosen career, but hadn’t yet met “the one”. Sure, I dated some nice guys, but marriage?? I watched as friends and colleagues got married and moved to the suburbs, and worried that somehow my life was not enough. And then it clicked. I realized that my version of life was just as meaningful and special, and I leaned into all of the wonderfulness that was MY life. I bought my first home on my own and later became a single parent to an amazing son.
As I grew within this empowered space, I scoured the internet for content tailored to women like me. Women who are loving life while taking an unconventional path. I was looking for a community where the focus was about more than securing the perfect mate.
Which brings me to…”Her Picket Fence”. I created this blog in 2022 to build a community that empowers women who have taken the road less traveled. A blog for women who strive to build their own version of the picket fence, while creating success on their own terms, both personally and professionally.
